Step by step....paper edge distressing

Hi everyone
Hope you have had a lovely weekend...We have been lucky enough to have two lovely sunny days up here in sunny QLD!!
Well it's my turn to show a technique this week & I hope this one will become part of your scrapping favourites as it has mine!!
PAPER EDGE DISTRESSING
For this technique I like to use the sharp edge of scissors to score along the edge of your paper.
Alternatively you can use the Heidi Swapp edge distressing tool that Sue & Craig have available in the shop. This is a much easier way to start for beginner's and it gives a more gentle effect.
Start by using firm pressure just drag your scissors along the paper as many times as you like in the same direction until the desired effect is reached. It really is that easy yet so effective. The same goes for the distressing tool .....always making sure your drag it along in the same direction otherwise you may end up with chunks out of your page & not nice little tears like we are after!!........I always learn the hard way!!....LOL
Don't be to worried if you happen to tear the paper as this gives a wonderful effect to your page.
When the desired effect has been reach, gently rub around the edges to release any stray pieces of paper. Gently moisten any tears you may have in the paper and roll them down between your fingers for added volume to your pages. This looks very effective when creating a vintage page.

Now for a more vintage look you can ink & distress the edges with a Tim Holtz distressing ink applied with a foam wedge or foam of some sort. Sue also has a wonderful range of colours available in the Tim Holtz distress ink available through the shop.

Now looking back over these pic"s I probably should have arranged for a hand double!!...LOL

I really hope you may get a chance to give this technique a go & I look forward to seeing your edge distressing creations in the scraploot gallery!!

Happy scrapping

Kylie x

Hey Kylie, fabulous work! By the way you don't need a hand double. And please thank the photographer, unless of course you took the photos with your feet and toes...Seriously fantastic technique, I know I should use it more, and I think you have inspired me..Sue
