Heidi Swapp has been to Scraploot...

The gorgeous wonderful Heidi Swapp offically opened Scraploot last thursday night... wow she is the most inspirational person i have ever met... she is just gorgeous and speaks so well espcially about things that you can all relate to....
The poor girl had so many photos taken LOL but she didnt mind at all....

Michelle Sultana was the lucky winner to get her photo scrapped of her gorgeous daughter Katelyn... the page turned out beautiful.

Heidi officially opened the shop by signing and placing a large clock in the Heidi Swapp corner (she was even brave enough to climb up the ladder LOL)... thanks to Michelle for organising the clock...
We ate pink lemingtons, pink musk sticks and drank pink champagne...the dress code for the night was to wear pink and Sandra went all out... we all loved her tshirt that she decorated and wore....All of us here at Scraploot would like to say a huge huge thank you to Heidi and Chanel for taking the time to come to sydney and help us celebrate the opening of the shop... we appreciate it so much and will remember this always....

Santa Mini Album...

Firstly congrats to Kim - Larsen is just GORGEOUS...I hope he is being a good boy!

Well here is a quick and fun gift or momento to make using the Kaiser Craft SANTA wooden album. These are so easy to whip up!
1. First, cover the front of each "letter page" using the delish new Kaiser Craft christmas papers. You apply dimensional magic or a similar adhesive and spead it all over - right up to the edges.
2. Next place your paper on the glue and smooth out. Allow to dry thoroughly.
3. Cut away excess paper with a sharp craft knife.
4. Paint the reverse side of each letter page. 6. After the paint dries line up the "pages" to arrange the photo order and play with embellishments.
These albums are a great way to use up paper scraps, flowers, buttons, brads...and don't forget to cut out images from your patterned papers.7. Once all your photos and embellishments have been stuck down you simply assemble the album with rings and add some ribbons and ric- rac to finish off!
It really is personal choice as to which side/s you decide to add photos and of course the types of embellishments to use. The possibilites are endless! Here are some of my "pages".

WISHING YOU ALL A VERY SAFE AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Melis xx

Tree Decoration

So this week I thought I would show you a nice idea for a tree decoration, this one is great for getting the kids to help out with too. I spied something similar in a magazine a couple of years back and had been wanting to give it a go myself. I have only 1 example to show you, but there are many possibilities that you could do too.

So you start out with some of these baubles, I picked these up from Spotlight in a pack of 6. Here is where you can really let the imagination run wild. I have cut up some strips of patterned paper (scraps are PERFECT) and then rolled them up tightly, I made these last year with my middle son, he was sick at the time but happy to help me roll up the strips of paper.
Then put them into the baubles.
Then I put in some small buttons and some beads.
And that's it, simple, and fun and looks great on the tree (excuse the bad photo is is overcast here today)

I have had some other ideas too when it come to filling these little beauties up, Small photos with some buttons and beads would also look amazing, or a diecut Christmas themed shape too, I also have some baubles on my tree that have some tinsel in it. I guess you are limited to sizes, but so long as it can be rolled up it can fit in here.

Oh and a little tip, don't leave these little beauties near the bottom of the tree, cause I learnt the hard way that it isn't fun cleaning up 100's of little beads after a almost 18 month old finds these 'interesting' lol

Well this is the last of my blog updates till next year (I cant believe I am saying that!!) We are off on a little family holiday up north to spend Christmas with my inlaws, (after Heidi Swapp of course!) so Merry Christmas to you all from me, I hope it is a safe and happy time for all of you. Remember if driving, drive safe! and I will 'see' you all in the new year.

Tis' the season.......................

Hi guys

Well it's my turn to update the blog this week & I just wanted to start by saying A huge congratulations to Sue, Craig & the team.....your hard work has certainly paid off as that is the best OTP project I've ever seen!!...LOL

On a serious note it truly is an amazing shop you have created & I'd just like to wish you every success for many years to come!!....Can't wait to physically come & shop til I drop!!
It's a HUGE credit to you all!!!

Well as the title says...Tis' the season so this week I thought I would share some quick, cheap & easy Christmas ideas to make with you all.
First is some Christmas place cards I've made using left over materials, very basic using Bazzill card for the base......as these were made using scraps I don't have exact measurements as they are different sizes, roughly 7cm square, then with pattern paper cut 6.5cm square for the centre. Using a scrap of co-ordinating pattern paper I used a small circle scalloped punch & added a 1 1/2 in circle on top & added our initials. Using felt i cut out small holly leaves & added a single red button in between them.
Using the same My minds eye paper I cut a strip 3 1/2 inch wide and placed around a candle added felt holly leaves & a button & some Christmas ribbon to finish my centre piece.

Close up detail of place card.

One of my fondest childhood memories was the Christmas pudding my pop use to make & that is where I got the inspiration from to make this Christmas card.
Using felt I cut a rough pattern out & stitched it to my card, I then stamped a holly deco using the Kaiser clear stamps and coloured using water colour crayons, added a title and using dimensional magic to highlight Xmas.

Another card using leftover pattern paper & some felt for the stocking, the matt was made with my cuttlebug and a swirl embossing folder. The title was created using Thickers.

Last one is my tree decoration using my extra lge Marvy scalloped circle punch, a 1 inch circle punch to staple the string to hang & a small ribbon bow to cover the staple...very easy & effective way to add decorations to your family tree & something the kiddo's would be able to help with also.

As this is my last blog post for the year I'd just like to wish all the Scraploot scrappers & visitors a very Merry Christmas full of fun, love & laughter with the ones you love and a safe & Happy new year.

Until next time

Happy scrapping

Kylie :)
