Diecut papers...

Hey Everyone....
Hope your all enjoying your weekend... nice and warm here today which was a great day to be outside...

So its my turn again to update this blog and this week im going to show you how to use those diecut papers that are very popular at the moment. There are so many companies coming out with diffrent shaped papers now such as Pink Paislee, Jenni Bowlin, Making Memories etc... some cute shapes and colours.

So how can you use these. Well there is the usual way and just stick them onto some cardstock as your background patterned paper such as this this is the new papers from Pink Paislee.

or you can use them as your base paper. I love doing it this way it makes your page look diffrent then just having base cardstock everytime. here are a few samples of this technique

this one is using Jenni Bowlin diecut papers.
this one is made using the gorgeous spring fling line from Pink Paislee

and this one is made using Making Memories round die cut papers...

and this one is totally diffrent using the new papers from Autumn Leaves.

So as you can see they give you such a diffrent effect to your page when its not a typical square shaped...

So why not step outside the square and give it a go.. its lots of fun

till next time

Hello avid readers (waving frantically) it is my turn (Jodi) to update the lovely Scraploot blog, I have decided to share a technique that I use quite often in my scrapbooking. I know that many of us do not like our own handwriting and quite often will resort to using hidden journaling or worse still none at all!! My technique is very simple and allows you to add journaling of any font and brushes to any part of your layout.

Step 1. Type out your journaling in word or Photoshop (or whichever program you usually use)

Step 2. In your printer options change your settings to print in reverse or mirror image.

Step 3. Print your journaling onto a blank transparency (I have a piece that I use over and over)

Step 3. Carefully place the transparency ink side down onto your layout. Gently rub your finger over the entire section of the transparency being very careful not to move it or it will smudge. I actually place a tissue under my finger to help it glide over the transparency instead of my finger sticking to it.

Step 4. Remove the transparency and wipe clean so that you can use it again and again

Step 5. Sit back and feel happy that you have added important information to your scrapbooking

layout!!!!!

Please note that sometimes parts of the print may be lighter than other parts if pressure hasn’t been applied evenly, this can be corrected by using a pen of the same colour but always test to make sure that the ink doesn’t bleed before using on your layout

I hope that this tip has been helpful and please don’t hesitate to leave a question in the comments section…I am more than happy to answer questions :0)

Happy Scrapping
Till next time

xx Jode

Creating your own pattern paper..........

Hi everyone!!
What a beautiful time of year this is....I love spring & all it brings!!

so......I thought I would go with the whole spring theme and show you how I like to create my own pattern paper!!

Materials:

Versamark ink pad

Light coloured card stock found here

Stamp sets are the best to use such as the Kaiser brand type I used as they are all coordinating.
This is really easy, quick & looks fantastic as the versamark leaves a watermark type effect on your card.
Choose the design you wish to achieve...load your stamps with versamark ......and stamp away ....its that easy........
Don't be too worried if you make a mistake because you can always stamp on a separate piece of card cut around the stamped image and paste it for a 3d layered effect!!...this can also be done in different coloured inks for a layered effect!!

Here is my sample

Once you have achieved the desired effect you just design your lo and here is my finished sample

There are no hard or fast rules with this technique you create your paper as you wish as much or as little as you like!!...hope some of you may wish to create your own pattern paper & I cant wait to see your own pp layouts in the gallery!!

Have fun & happy scrapping

Old Book Pages

Hi again, Anthea here.

This week I wanted to let you in on a great cheap item to add to your scrapbooking stashes! Old Book Pages.

I have seen the pages popping up in some girls works around the traps, and thought I would give it a try myself. I was walking past a second hand shop and spied some old books for 20c each! bargain, I hunted through for a book that was aged really well so I didn't have to work too had on distressing.

And then all you need to is treat it like patterned paper, here are a couple of examples of what I have completed

this layout here I used the papers in 2 places, first I distressed the edges a little more by tearing them, folding them and swiping them with Pine Cone ink, then attached them like I would with patterned paper behind my photos.

Then I used my Circle Punches and punched out some of the paper, stapled them together and started 'fringing' the circles, once fringed I scrunched them so it looked like a flower, swiped more pine cone ink on the edges and then attached them to my layout with a button in the center

On this layout here I again used the book page behind the photo and stapled a corner down
and using my punches again I punched out some more circles and attached them to the layout as an embellishment with some Kaiser Pearls (how good are they!!!)
And on this last layout I wanted to keep it simple so I cut out a thinner strip of the book paper (about an inch wide) inked the edges again using pine cone and tore a little of one side of the strip, then gathered it along one side of the strip and attached it together using a staple, this turned it into a flower, I know, flowers on a boys page, but truly it can work! especially in this instance as it isn't a uniformed flower shape.

So there you go, a very inexpensive way to add some interest to your layouts, the possibilities are endless!

Happy Creating!!!

Using enlarged photos step by step

Hi everyone, One of my favourite techniques is to use an 8 by 12 photo on a layout which really emphasises the photo on the page. I was planning to use a different photo on a completely different theme for this step by step, but on a trip to the park today my son Addison learned to climb the ladder up the slippery dip for the very first time and I wanted to get this memory down asap and what better way to save this memory than with an enlarged photo.
1 Gather your 8 by 12 photo and papers. I have used creative imaginations animal paper monkin around here, and bazzil cardstock.
2 Trim your photo and papers to suit the layout, I often trim the photo width to emphasis the length.

3 Ink your paper and cardstock, this helps to blend the papers and cardstock and gives a great feel to the finished layout

4 Sand the edges of your photo if appropriate. I use a nail shaper available at chemists or cosmetic outlets.

5 Write your journaling, I have used a jenni-bowlin-journalling-card ( I have a small notebook that I write down little anecdotes, milestones or special moments that I also date so I don’t forget them).

6 Add your heading. I have chosen to use a combination heading of three different types of AC thickers poolside-cricket , roller-rink-white and rootbeer-float-brown.

7 Apply rub ons to your photo and paper, I have used scenic route playtime rub ons here. Note how I have applied three sets of the rubons in a triangle, this is known as a visual triangle which helps to lead the eye around the page.

My finished layout using the above techniques is shown below, I hope you find these tips and hints useful and I hope to see your layouts with 8 by 12 photos in the gallery soon.
