Using enlarged photos step by step

Hi everyone, One of my favourite techniques is to use an 8 by 12 photo on a layout which really emphasises the photo on the page. I was planning to use a different photo on a completely different theme for this step by step, but on a trip to the park today my son Addison learned to climb the ladder up the slippery dip for the very first time and I wanted to get this memory down asap and what better way to save this memory than with an enlarged photo.
1 Gather your 8 by 12 photo and papers. I have used creative imaginations animal paper monkin around here, and bazzil cardstock.
2 Trim your photo and papers to suit the layout, I often trim the photo width to emphasis the length.

3 Ink your paper and cardstock, this helps to blend the papers and cardstock and gives a great feel to the finished layout

4 Sand the edges of your photo if appropriate. I use a nail shaper available at chemists or cosmetic outlets.

5 Write your journaling, I have used a jenni-bowlin-journalling-card ( I have a small notebook that I write down little anecdotes, milestones or special moments that I also date so I don’t forget them).

6 Add your heading. I have chosen to use a combination heading of three different types of AC thickers poolside-cricket , roller-rink-white and rootbeer-float-brown.

7 Apply rub ons to your photo and paper, I have used scenic route playtime rub ons here. Note how I have applied three sets of the rubons in a triangle, this is known as a visual triangle which helps to lead the eye around the page.

My finished layout using the above techniques is shown below, I hope you find these tips and hints useful and I hope to see your layouts with 8 by 12 photos in the gallery soon.

Hey Kim, well you must be unpacked and have your scraproom all sorted. Layout is just fantastic..looks like Addison has settled in quite nicely to his new surrounds. Love the idea..I think I might have to scraplift..never thought of using an 8 x 12 photo and then trimming it. Sue
