Scraploot Design Team Call

Term: 6 Months – November 2011 to April 2012

Scraploot are looking for committed, enthusiastic team members, who can comply with deadlines, and have the time and energy to fulfill the following requirements;
- A personal blog post once a week promoting Scraploot Kits, products, events and online store.
- A minimum of 4 scrapbook layouts per month
- A written or video tutorial for one of your projects per month (rostered)
- A weekly post on the Scraploot blog (rostered)
- Set a monthly challenge using provided kit
- Leave comments for participants on challenges
- Participation in Cyber Crops or challenges set on the Scraploot blog, and assist in the judging of entries
- Active promotion of Scraploot via Facebook, blogs and online forums/galleries where permitted

To apply, please send us the following to info@scraploot.com.au;
- A link to your blog
- Previous or current design team experience
- A short biography (including a description of your usual style, how long you have been scrapbooking, main subject(s) that you scrap (e.g. boy, girl, pets etc), number of photos per layout (general)
- A short statement as to why you would be an asset to Scraploot
- 3-6 layouts that reflect your usual style

For your contribution and dedication to Scraploot, you will receive a monthly kit, a generous discount to our online store and promotion of your work and blog by us, Scraploot.

We are now into May, it will be the middle of the year before we know it.

Now on the shelves:

New Elementary papers from Simple Stories is a fantastic range for school from kindy onwards. Three new ranges of Fancy Pants, To The Moon – great for boys, and two fantastic beach themed ranges Beach Bum and Beach Babe.

New October Afternoon 5 & Dime – absolutely fantastic!

New Kaiser Craft releases Chapter One and Party Animals will be on the shelves by the end of the week.

As you know by now May is a full on month, and it starts this Saturday with National Scrapbooking Day celebrations…we are hoping to make this a fund raising day, with challenge kits and great prizes up for grabs. Hi Everyone,

No rest for the wicked and that goes double for us at Scraploot. The May class schedule is now finalised, with most samples now on display at the store. Next time you are in make sure you check them out, there are some fantastic classes scheduled.

We are also celebrating National Scrapbooking Day on the 7^th May. On the day we will be scrapping and raising money for charity. There is lots of fun organised for the day, with some spot specials and raffles, so if you cant make it for the day, then be sure to pop in and join the fun for a little bit.

Our big event day on the 14^th is going to be a huge one. If you are needing some great new photos, be sure to look into and book one of our mini photo shoots…great value, for some great photos. Two classes will be running that day, our Copics Colour Crew class with Rachael, then at 2pm we have a class with the Delightful Sandra Henderson Staples from Scrapbook Delights at Dapto. Then at 4pm the first of this years overnight Social Scrap PJ Party. Its going to be a big day. Contact the store on 9688 3319, as bookings are essential!

We hope to have samples and the promotional flyer ready this weekend for our next Master Class on the 28^th May with Michelle Winston!

The counting is done!

Well things around here have been very busy with the EOFY Stocktake Sale and the Stocktaking itself. We are thankful to say that the counting is all finished for another year. Phew!

But around here you know there is always something happening.

This month we have lots of great classes happening. During the school holidays we have a program running for the kids, with a couple of layout classes, along with an off the page and our usual colouring in classes. This month we are doing something different and introducing Home Decor Classes to our schedule, with two different classes planned. On the Friday 9th July join Rachael for Ornate Frames and Sue on the 24th July for Tri Fold Display gates.

On Friday 16th July we have Linda Baldock creating some fabulous Wearable art of Rings and Brooches.And to finish off the month we also have our Mid Winter Christmas in July Social Scrap. For those of who are booked in just a reminder to bring a plate to share, along with a Secret Santa to the value of $10. Its sure to be a night with lots of laughs.

We are all still trying to recover from SIA as well as our fantastic day here on Saturday with Ali Russell and her photography workshop, along with the classes with Debbie and Paula from 7 Gypsies.

To all of you that sent along an email for us voting for us as Retailer of the Year, many thanks for your time in doing so. Unfortunately, we were pipped at the post by the Scrappy Cow in WA, in fact all of this years awards went to WA. So congratulations to you all. Maybe next year!

Whats New In Store?

7 Gypsies Avignon collection, as well as a top up of photo trays, photoholder and accessories as well as lots of other 7 Gypsies goodies are now instore.

From Tattered Angels, new Glimmermist, screens and chipboard as well as CHALKBOARD. Glitter Glam and Glitter Glaze have hit a production glitz, but we will have it here in store just as soon as it lands in Australia. Watch out for our Tattered Angels technique course coming soon.

Classes This Week

Tonight we have both Brenda's card class as well as a layout class with Sue.

On Wednesday night from 5:30 to 7pm we have our Social Night with Debbie and Paula from 7 Gypsies. For those of you that attended both classes onSaturday, be sure to bring along your challenge kit, with your own twist, for Paula and Debbie to vote on the winner.

For those wanting the chance to meet these two inspirational international guests, then be sure to come along. Only $5 including drinks and nibbles. Following this we have Nicole's class using 7 Gypsies Avignon collection.

On Thursday, Sheree's techique class is all about creating material flowers.

Saturday is Day 1 of our Album in 2 Days class, full of techniques to helpyou achieve a full album in limited time. The class fee includes the raw album, and from there its free style, using papers and embellishments you may already have for the theme that you choose.

Last but not least Saturday night is our May Social Scrap from 4pm to 11pm

Shop Update & Classes

Hi everyone, Rachael here for todays blog update.

Things have been busy here at Scraploot with lots of classes happening, organisation of the up and coming special events, new product arriving and preparations for SIA. So here is a quick run down of what is happening around here.

On Saturday, Nicole has a stunning Mothers Day Book Box class, using Graphic 45 papers. Any mum would love this box to hold a mini album (Nicole has also created a sample mini album that fits inside the box) or much loved keepsakes.

Tuesday and Wednesday we will be attending SIA ... but don't worry the shop will still be OPEN for when you need your therapy. =) Tuesday and Wednesday we will be open 10am - 5pm and also on Wednesday night we re-open at 6:30pm for Nicole's Life is Beautiful layout. At SIA we will be on inspiration overload as we look at all the new products from a variety of manufacturers. Leave a comment below if there is any new product lines you may have seen that you think we should look at while we are at SIA.

And don't forget, if you think we are worthy of SIA Retailer of the Year, be sure to drop an email to sia.2010@ozemail.com.au and tell them in 25 words or less why we are worthy of being Retailer of the Year.

On Thursday night next we have Ree Roffey joining us to start teaching, and just for you Ree has created a very cutesy girl layout using the Paper Doll range from Crate Paper.

We are delighted to announce that Debbie Crouse and Paula Cheney from 7Gypsies will be here teaching not one, but two classes on Saturday 8th May. Join us for what will be a very eventful day. Across the two classes you will create a journal and an off the page House, using 7Gypsies products. This is certain to be one of the highlights of your scrapping year for 2010, and one that is not to be missed.

But if you can't make it for the Saturday class, we have also been lucky enough to have them visit us again on Wednesday 12th May for a meet and greet with the girls of 7Gypsies. After the meet and greet, Nicole will have an inspiring layout using the new 7Gypsies Avignon collection.

SIA 2010Retailer of The Year

SIA 2010 is on in a few weeks. This is the retailer event where we get to see all the new goodies that we haven't already seen and buy up big. This year the voting for retailer of the year is slightly different. This year, you need to email your vote to sia.2010@ozemail.com.au - the award this year will be based on comments rather than voting numbers. Christmas Party

On Saturday night we had a couple of special visitors..... jolly Santa, along with his o so cute little Elf!

Santa came with presents for all... being the children at heart that we all are we sat on Santa's knee for a photo. We all enjoyed a yummy christmas dinner and ate way too much... but it was so hard to resist the yummy deserts that were there.

Then we all scrapped till midnight... thank you to our wonderful customers that came in to help us celebrate christmas 2009.

Scraploot turns 1 in style with High Tea!

Wow! What a weekend it was.......

Saturday's Delish class fully booked out and those who came left with a stunning mini album. A big thank you to Sally and Sue from Delish for the inspiration throughout the class and also with the cute make and takes in the gazebo.

Larraine Bate also joined us on Saturday to demonstrate the amazing Cricut machine... thanks for inspiring us to think beyond the page and get even more use from our machines.

Sue and Craig were up late Friday night and up early again on Saturday morning cooking and preparing our lovely yummies for High Tea..... and Yummy it was!

Sheree on Saturday gave customers a sneak peak into her 12 Tags of Christmas Classes with a make and take in the afternoon, which was just beautiful.

Across the weekend our customers took advantage of some great spot specials and picked up some fabulous bargains. We also had a few treasure hunts and lucky door prizes. . . . The treasure hunt was lots of fun as people zipped around the store trying to find the treasure.

Also over the weekend we continued to support our favourite charity, The Jane McGrath Foundation, and raised $107 through a raffle. Congratulations to Nola McCormack, who won a $100 gift voucher to to spend instore, which was kindly donated by Sue & Craig. Thank you Sue and Craig for your continual support of this great cause.

A big thank you to all of our wonderful customers who came in across the weekend to help us celebrate our 1st Birthday!

Scraploot's 1st birthday...

Its our 1st Birthday this weekend and we are planning a huge one to celebrate!

On Saturday 28th November, we are celebrating in style with a fantastic class launching the new range from DELISH, High Tea, and what better way to celebrate this Aussie Product Promotion day, than with HIGH TEA and be part of this fantastic class with Sally Wilson. Starting at 11am with freshly baked scones (Sue will be up early baking these from her Nana’s secret recipe) then with sandwiches and fresh fruit followed by assorted pastry sweeties (yes Sue is going to be up very early!) … We have a limited number of spots remaining, so ring to book. The class, kit and High Tea is all included for $40.

For those of you already booked into the class, please email us or pop in before to get the info sheet on the class!

We will also have make and takes using the High Tea range in the Gazebo from 10:30 to 2:00.

Lorraine Bate will be here with us also on Saturday 28th from 10am to 1pm demonstrating the Cricut machine. On Saturday all Cricut Cartridges will be reduced by 25% off.

From 2pm to 4pm Sheree will be in the Gazebo doing a make and take with you using Tim Holtz product where you will make a gorgeous Christmas Tag.

On Sunday 29th we will be open from 10 to 4pm – the scraproom is available for a pleasant Sunday of scrapping and yakking…ring us to book!

Sheree will be demonstrating the Silhouette machine on Sunday from 11am to 1pm, and then from 2pm to 4pm Sheree will be demonstrating the Cuttlebug machine using both Cuttlebug embossing folders, and Spellbinder dies.

On both Saturday and Sunday we will have hourly HOT PINK DOT specials (bit like a Red Light – but we are sure you get the idea). For the first 15 minutes at the top of each hour we will have these specials running with a great range of product each hour. So make sure you plan to be with us for a few hours on either day or why not both because the hourly specials will rotate through the day and will be different each day.

We will also have some tubs throughout the store with great bargains with product reduced up to 50% off.

Sheree and Rachael have also decided on some other specials that they are going to run over the weekend – wish we could tell you what they are, but Sue and Craig don’t know what they are, nor what time they will be happening! All we know is that these will be ORANGE DOT SPECIALS

Scraploot Retreat 2009

Well its been and gone and what a blast we all had... Starting from friday we all arrived to find lovely accommadation and a huge room to scrap in (the tables were awesome to scrap at)...
Everyone was right into scrapping from the first night and apart from myself (who got a total of 2 cards made LOL) everyone got lots of scrapping done on the weekend....

We all had a ball... lots of laughing and talking oh and the few people that made us roll on the floor laughing (we wont name names but you know who you are LOL) but it was so much fun...

We raised a total of $407.00 for the McGrath Foundation with our bingo, raffles etc so thank you to every one of you who donated in some way... there were lots of yummy goodies that were up for grabs...

On the saturday night we had dinner by the pool with a masquerade theme night... we all decorated masks for the dinner of which there were some stunning ones and also the funny ones too....

The food and accommadation were awesome. The Retreat at Wisemans Ferry was such a lovely place to stay and we were very blessed with awesome weather.

Thank you to all our lovely customers and friends that came away with us. It was a fun weekend and I am sure that once we get over this one we will get started on organising next years (well maybe in a few months time we will LOL)

We have a fantastic month of classes for you, with Brenda and Nicole teaching some fabulous Christmas projects.
Kelley Forrester also joins us in November with 2 great layouts, a boy and a girl.
Sheree, Rachael and Sue have also been busy! Creating some cute kids and adorable baby layouts, a Mother Daughter layout and a Canvas Album.
The highlight of the month will be our BIRTHDAY WEEKEND on 28/29th November, with another of our Aussie Product Promotion Days. This one is for the launch of Delish's new range HIGH TEA, and we will be enjoying a HIGH TEA during the class as well as having make and takes in the Gazebo.
There are two social scraps during November, our regular Saturday night one is on the 14th November, then a special Sunday one on Sunday the 29th November during our birthday weekend.

Aussie Product Promo Day - Bella

A great day was had by all who attended our recent Aussie Product Promo day, highlighting the beautiful products from Bella.

There was lots of laughs, scrapping and tasting of some delicious goodies made by the girls Joanna & Sandra from Bella, to compliment the Christmas Recipe books being made.

Changes to our Layout of the Month Competition
Entries will now close on the last day of the month, with voting open until the last day of the next month. October Layout - is using patterned papers from Glitz Designs... the rest is up to you, with entries closing on the 31st October. The winner will be announced in the first monthly newsletter following the close of voting, and will receive a $30 voucher at the shop.

Xmas in July

We had our Christmas in July social scrap on last night and what a great night it was... Lots of laughing and chatting oh and a little bit of scrapping was done... but we all enjoyed ourselves...Lots of food (which was all so yummy) and even a Kris Kringle (some really nice gifts were given out)...

And some of our customers got right into the spirit of it all and came dressed in the christmas outfits...

So as you can see it was a great night....

Also just wanted to say a huge big thank you to Donna Macpherson from Scrapbook Creations who donated a 6 month subscription to Scrapbook Creations for us to raffle off on the night to raise money for the Jane McGrath foundation....

Every two weeks we will be holding a Friday night challenge. We will publish the challenge details on the blog on the Thursday before each challenge night. At the end of the night those attending will vote on the winning layout. The winner will recieve a voucher to spend at the shop, the value of which will be calculated on the number of participants for that challenge night - $5 of everyones fee for the challenge goes towards the prize!

Gifts in Under an Hour

In the lead up to Christmas, we hope to bring you a monthly class where you can start making gifts well in advance of December 25th arriving.

Join us on Saturday July 25th as we celebrate Christmas in July.
We have a fantastic workshop with Brenda during the day. Christmas will be here before you know it, so why not come along and let Brenda share some ideas for this years Christmas cards. The workshop fee of $20 includes 6 blank cards and envelopes and a choice of patterened papers.

Keeping with the festivities, we will finish of the day with our Christmas in July Social Scrap (Mid Winter Christmas Party - Woohoo!) Be sure to bring along a plate and a Kris Kringle to the value of $10 (non scrapping). It's sure to be a fun night.

Hi everyone, this month I got to play with some yummy my minds eye star bright paper and accessories sheet , An A2Z scraplets king frog chipboard, American craft thickers smoothie and Prima say it in studs frogs embellishment .

Here I have used the my minds eye star bright thats my boy paper and the accesories sheet as well as the prima say it in studs frogs and thickers. To create the jumping frogs I first drew some semi circles, punched the holes with an awl then hand sewed using some embroidery thread.

On this layout I have used my minds eye star bright twinkle town paper and accesories sheet, the American craft moothie thickers and the A2Z scraplets chipboard Kimg Frog. Ink your chipboard in a light colour all over then ink the edge in a darker tone for defintion.

Here I have used my minds eye star bright shooting star and thats my boy paper and accessories sheet. To adda 3D effect use foam tape under layered stars.

My final layout was actually a photo swap with Anthea, hope you like it Anthea. I have used my minds eye star bright seeing spots paper and accesories sheet as well as the prima say it in studs frogs and smoothie thickers. I have used a circle cutter to cut out some circles from the paper, embossed them then placed them back with foam tape for a 3D effect.

Hope you feek inspired to use these papers and accesories I had fun this month.

DOTS and SPOTS

Are you tired of the same old lettering for your headings. I have an idea that you can use to change your existing lettering into something new-dots and spots.

All you need is some chipboard, foam, vinyl or even sticker lettering, a white or black pen or some acrylic paint and a toothpick.

Next step is to add some dots to the letters either all over or just parts of them for a new look.

Please note that pen such as the uniball signo will not work on foam lettering, here you need to use paint and a toothpick to apply it, but pen works on all other lettering types.

Here are my examples

On this example I have used a uniball signo pen to add groups of three dots to each vinyl thickers letter.

This time I used the same pen but added dots right around the edge of each vera thickers letters. I used pen again to add dots around the edge of bella chipz chipboard lettering.

And finally here I have used a toothpick to add white acrylic paint dots to these foam subway thickers. ( sorry cant show you the whole layout ).

Well thats it for now hope you have found some inspiration to add some zing to your headings.

Talking Masks

Hi there, Anthea here. My apologies for not having this up on the weekend, but I was here and it was FANTASTIC, and whats more is I now have more photos to scrap =)

OK today I wanted to show you a little on masks. When Heidi Swapp came out to the country late last year she came with this awesome technique that she shared with a lot of keen Scrapbookers. For the staff that were at the Scraploot shop during the Grand Opening by Heidi herself we were also shown this technique. Heidi put a gorgeous page together right before our eyes and it was easy to become inspired by her enthusiastic nature. I took this technique home with me and have been putting it to some good use and then added my own little twist to it.

For this you need some inks.

Tim Holtz is great for larger projects, and I recommend using the Blending Tool with these inks, you can blend in just the one colour or multi colours. in one of my pages for this months Design Team I used 3 colours on the one page and the blending tool just worked brilliantly. (Head to the Scraploot Gallery to check it out)
Versa Mark inks are also great to use too. They are smaller then Tim Holtz inks and more easily manipulated to move around (you will see what I mean soon) and when they are brand new their colours are nice and vibrant.

Your also going to need something to act as your mask. Heidi Swapp has released some new Mega Masks and Scraploot also stocks the older designs that are fabulous.
I also have here some negatives from some Die Cut Sheets and a piece of wiring that I had lying around in my stash.

To get started I will show you the Die Cut Negative first.

Place tiny pieces of double sided tape on the corners underneath the diecut. touch them a couple of times to take away the stickiness, just so that they are slightly tacky enough to hold the diecut in place. Place it on your layout and then gently starting from the outside of the diecut lightly rub your ink pad over the diecut, starting from the outside will allow you to bland the tones into the centre.

Once you have a result your happy with lightly lift the die cut up. On this layout I have used 3 different coloured inks, and I love how it gives a bit of life to the page

This next technique I am using the wire

Like I mentioned before Versa Mark ink pads have a nice soft sponge, so it is easy to move the ink pad around. Here you will need to dab the ink into the spaces between the wire, do this as hard or as soft as you like, change your colours, work in straight lines or messy, add this to one spot on your page or a few. You should end up with something like this

And for this last one I am using a Heidi Swapp Mask

Here I have used the Versa Mark ink pads again by dabbing them into the spaces and doing this till I have a desired colour, move your mask around and make it slightly messy, or for a more clean look just leave it in the one place. If you were using Heidi Swapps Mega Masks then Tim Holtz Distress Inks and a blending tool would work wonderfully.

This is a fun little technique that is sure to brighten up your pages. If you use it be sure to share it with us in our gallery.

Evening Girls!
So, here goes my 1st Cyber Crop and I get to set the 1st Challenge, so here goes. . .
On a layout you need to include the following 3 elements;

Blading or Hand Cutting
Hidden Journalling
A Mother and Child in the Photograph

Here is my sample!

For my Layout I have used 2 identical pieces of Creative Imaginations (CI) patterned paper; one for the background, and then I bladed and hand cut out the flourishes and Magic Mounted the cut flourishes. I then cut a co-ordinating CI Journalling block, “I love you” which can be seen at the top left hand corner of the layout, which slides out.

Make sure your LO is uploaded into the Scraploot Gallery in the correct gallery by midnight NSW time Sunday 7th June.

OK so how are we all this evening? We are almost organised and the first challenge is about to go up. Scallops are every where now and if you dont have a scallop punch you are are still able to get the effect on a layout.

Step 1 cut out a number of circles any size you want.

Step 2 Place them on your lay out lining them up adjacent to each other. I use a ruler to keep them in a straight line.

Step 3 trim off any excess card stock.

pregnancy journal

oh the post that nearly wasn't!!! A simple thing such as updating a blog can be crazy when you add into that placenta brain, dodgy Internet connections, inability to remember passwords and power interruptions!! i almost gave up... believe me

anyway just an update on the pregnancy journal

and some answers to questions that i have had regarding the album recently

what can i do if i have fallen behind on the album... i cant remember what was happening for a couple of the months??

I have a couple of methods that seem to work really well

1. i have a note pad that i jot things down in, first time i felt bub kick, funny things my other children have said, weight (arrgh), when i grew out of my favourite jeans (still sad over that one!!)

2. i scour my diary, one of my worst symptoms during my pregnancies is my forgetfulness because of this i write important appointments and such in my diary... as i am going back over the previous entries i am able to jog my memory using the appointments or events that were happening that month

3. ask fellow family members and work colleagues, its amazing how much other people remember about what you talk about or complain about lol. My children are great for reminding me how all i did for weeks on end was complain about being tired or the story they tell about naming our baby and how they remember when it was is really cute.

How do you work out what goes into the journal and what stays out??

when i started this journal i thought about my target audience, in this case it was my three children. I needed to cater to all three age groups without overdoing the information or leaving questions in my oldest daughters mind. I have kept information short and to the point and left out alot of my feelings because i found it just left more unanswered questions, because of this i have a small diary which i have a more personal account of the pregnancy in. Think about who is going to read the album most and cater for that person in particular.

if something was to happen to baby what would you do with the album??

i would definitely keep it, whether or not the baby has a happy, healthy outcome or not ...these are still memories of a part of our lives that happened!! i think if anything the album and the information, ultra sounds and developments would become more important and i would feel so happy that i had something to remember baby by. I have had a few people email me saying that they were too scared to start an album In case something bad was to happen... and now they regret it

my advise is do what feels right for you. Your album doesn't have to have pictures and technical information, it could be as simple as a feelings diary. There is also nothing stopping you from completing an album or diary after the event using the methods above.

Ultimately you are the only one who can decide whether or not to have an album of this event

Using your scraps

So I don't know about you, but I have a load of scraps hanging around my Scraproom so today I wanted to show you a layout based entirely on scraps.
I keep all of my scraps sorted out by manufacturer in a concertina file as pictured here, I like to scrap by manufacturer and this makes it easier instead of sorting through everything I can just open it up and pull out everything in the one file,

So for this layout I have used up some Cosmo Cricket, Scraploot has a wide range available in the shop ;) on this Layout I have used 4 of the Cosmo lines from memory, they just seemed to co-ordinate so well, and for those of you who don't know me, I am inlove with anything Cosmo Cricket!! =)

OK what you need to d is pull out all of the scraps you plan on using for your layout and get started. What you will find is that you will have a mix of both larger and smaller pieces in your scrap piles, for this design on my layout I didn't have to trim much up, I utilised the scraps and sizes that I had. This is a very simple design that can be change around with to suit any themed page.

I have also used the papers to create a simple embellishment for my layout, and went through my stash of letters for the title

and here is the finished product.

Other ways to use up your stash is to cut out design elements such as flowers, leaves, stars ........ and use those to embellish your layout. Here is another sample of a layout I made using scraps only, here I cut the flower designs out from some more Cosmo Cricket paper and placed them around a circle, Pearls also make fantastic flowers centres
Also drag out your punches and punch out all different shapes and different sizes and used those on your layouts or cards, Scraps are also the perfect size for your cuttlebugs too, layer up your diecuts like butterflies and you will have a unique and interesting embellishment on your layout.

I hope those tips will help you to use up your scraps.

Well where do i start... with all the new yummy goodies that keep arriving this may be a long post LOL... ok lets start

Fabulous very cute new release from Little Yellow Bicycle, Baby Safari, with papers and embellishments for boys and girls. From Rose Moka, 3 new ranges with fabulous vibrant colours and coordinating alpha stickers. The alpha stickers are a must such a great price and great colours also.

Oh and my all time favourite product range Teresa Collins CHA 2009 releases are here. Fabulous papers in three ranges, some coordinating chipboard and 6x12 transparency. 6x12 file covers will be arriving shortly. I so cant wait to start creating with these ranges...

Well we are into the middle of April now and the classes are going very well in store... still lots of fun classes to go for the rest of the month...make sure you come in and check out the samples and book in....

On Saturday 18th April we had our first of our Australian product promotions. This month we were showcasing Buzz and Bloom products...Everyone that booked in made a gorgeous Mother's day album out of some of their new products... it sure looked like they were all having a fun time with lots of painting, inking and tearing... i cant wait to see lots of the finished products..here are some photos from the day..

and then some of them stayed on to scrap the night away at our Crop night... these nights are so much fun... we laughed and talked lots... dont think much scrapping got done (well for me anyway LOL) but it was a great night...

Stickers

Stickers.....wow haven't they come a long way since I started scrapbooking. I remember the first scrapbook store I walked into and stickers came on ROLLS. There was slightly transparent letters and animals of all kinds from bumble bees to whales. I used to coach children very close to a scrapbook store and I still remember the girls going in and buying the stickers for their sticker collections.

Well we have moved on and now there are some FUNKY stickers out there on the market. Stickers that enhance scrapbooking pages and add a little bit of extra detail to a page, like these. I love word stickers that support the story or add meaning to a photo. 7 Gypsies 97% Complete stickers are fantastic for this. They come in so many different themes.

The words perfect fit come in a long strip. I just cut what I needed and placed the strip back on the sheet to use another time.

To help correct placement of Letter stickers i love to lay them out on my ruler first and check the spacing. This helps ensure you are not pulling them off if you are not happy and ripping the sticker.

Once you are happy stick the top down and slowly guide the ruler away.

The stickers on this tantrum layout cover some dead space in the photo and hide the dirt on my kitchen floor.

It is great to also give stickers a bit of a lift by placing foam tape or chipboard behind them.

Sewing around stickers also gives more of a personal touch.

I store my stickers using 3 different methods.

I store them with the paper collection they match. Many companies make matching stickers that coordinate with their papers so I store them together in my cropper hopper so I don't forget I have them.

I hang a lot of my word and definition stickers on my Clip-it-up in themes. So boy stickers go together and Christmas hang together.

My alphabet stickers are in plastic sleeves in a foolscap folder. I like to keep brands and colours together.

Sometimes when I have some stickers left over from a sheet I pop them on a card. I wanted to use this sticker on my first bike layout but it did not fit so I made a card with some left over card stock.

The Easter bunny comes to visit

Happy Easter to everyone.

Being my son Larsen's first Easter I wanted to create a fun layout that captured this special occasion. I designed a large bunny using card stock and then finished the layout with some cute embellishments. If you would like to make the bunny your self just follow my simple directions.

Here is my layout

Step 1

Cut out your pieces- two large circles 14 and 9 cms in diameter and two small ovals for the feet. Then cut out the outside of the ears, then using coloured card or pattern paper make the insides of the ears and two small circles for the pads on the feet. Make sure your ears are not too long by using a full 12 x 12 sheet and piecing your bunny together temporarily.

Step 2

Ink all of your pieces, I have used some pink ink.

Step 3

Turn your pieces over and using this double sided tape, stick your pieces together, again keep checking that your bunny fits onto the 12 x 12 paper.

Step 4

For the feet use some foam tape to give a raised effect and then place 3 pink brads in a semi circle for the toes. Cut 3 very fine black strips from black cardstock and a small black triangle with rounded corners for the nose then using the foam tape place the whiskers under the nose and bend into shape. For the eyes I have used two black full stops from a thickers packet. Draw in the mouth with a black pen like this one.

For the layout I have used white, pink and blue bazzil. Also this easter egg ribbon from Carolees Creations. Some blue flowers from Green Tara. Black letter stickers from doodlebug and Kaiser craft rhinestones.. Again for the centre of the flowers I have used some fullstops from these black vinyl thickers.

Using felt

So I was in desperate need of a Scrap Shop, I mean I have been a very good girl this year so why not spoil myself right...... well I hoped in the car and went for a road trip up to Scraploot and shopped to my hearts content ( now to make amens with my bank account hehe)

Well Sue has loads of GORGEOUS new yummies in the shop and I couldn't resist getting my ink covered fingers on these. So today I am going to share with you a layout I started while up at Scraploot using a fabulous Heidi Swapp Mega Mask and other little bits and pieces.

So here is my layout

First I used the Mega Mask and some Tim Holtz Distress Ink with a Blending Tool to create my frame. These masks are FABULOUS, but a word of warning be careful pulling them off their backing cause they may tear, and to loosen the sticky so it is easy to get on and off your project attach them to your pants or the carpet a couple of times to get a little lint on them.

I then attached my patterned papers and photo using a template to draw my circle around the photo.

Now for the felt, I used my Cuttlebug and Nestibilities plain circle and ran it through the Cuttlebug

I have used 3 different sized circles.

I then used my scissors to cut thin triangles from the circles

like the photo above and just repeat it around the circle.

Then attached these to my layout, I find that Pritt Power Gel is FANTASTIC for sticking almost anything, felt included.

On this felt 'flower' I punched out a circle from the patterned paper some gorgeous new
Prima and attached it to the centre of the felt

these following 2 I used Kaiser Brads in the centres

And that's it.

I wanted to share another tip with you too today. I love my
Glimmermist and was pretty bummed when one of my sprays just would not work no matter what I did. So still wanting to use it I found another way. Using an old dropper I fill it up with Glimmermist and 'drop' it onto my project. The higher the drop the bigger the splatter, and closer to the page the smaller it will be.

storage in my scraproom

Hi everyone, this week I'd like to show you some of my storage ideas I use in my scraproom. I'm very lucky to have a whole room dedicated to my craft. Some of my ideas you will find at the scraploot shop so look out for the links.

First off my Clip It Up here. I use this to store all my alphabet sticker sheets except my thickers. This allows my to see and find easily what I'm looking for.

I store all my coloured brads in glass jars( found at the super market) these are actually salt and pepper shakers. I have added a ribbon through the holes of the jars to show what colour brads belong where.

My ribbons are stored by colour in glass jars also, found at a bargain shop. This makes it very easy to find the ribbon that I want.

My Marvey Punches here are stored on a shelf in a wire basket for easy access.

My new ribbons, my favourite ribbons that I use all the time and my printed twill are kept in some beautiful bowls on a shelf, these are at arms length to my desk.My favourite ribbon at the moment is this Carolees Creations floral flourish ribbon in turquoise.

I keep my thickers here in another wire basket sorted by colour. I've only recently sorted them by colour and it makes a big difference when going to find what I need. If you check out my layouts you will see I use thickers on almost every one. One tip, open the packet but dont throw away the packaging keep the letters stored in the original so you don't lose any letters.

On my table I have my most recent purchases and favourite products I use all the time in glass jars and pretty containers, again these are all kept handy. I find I have to see my stuff to use it.

I store my scrap card stock and pattern paper in sheet protectors by colour. I have tied a
co-ordinating ribbon to each one for quick reference.

Buttons, tags, glitters and such are grouped together on a shelf as well as a wooden word for inspiration.

A final shot of my embellishment shelving , which sits directly behind my desk at arms length.

pregnancy journal update

I thought it might be time to add another couple of chapters to the pregnancy journal, so today i am adding two more pages... 12-16 weeks and 16-20 weeks. As i have explained most details of the album in previous posts i will mainly add tips from the layouts this time

12-16 weeks

tips
*always be on the lookout for how you can use an old product in a new way... i have used a scalloped frame in this layout as large photo corners just by cutting it in half.

*cutting interesting pieces out of your patterned paper can give you inexpensive embellishments which coordinate perfectly with the other items on your layout

16-20 weeks

* paper from a notebook makes a perfect place to journal, i have chosen to use notepaper as a running theme throuout my album to note down the facts about the pregnancy...

* its always a good idea to scan ultra sound pictures into the computer and print onto photopaper to use in your layouts, this gives you a extra copies and ensures the original stays in tact

* Never laminate your ultra sound scan pictures, the paper and ink they use for the scans do not do well with heat... you will end up with a black piece of paper!!

*other things that you could add to your pregnancy journal are- tummy measurements, weight, dr visits, blood test results, ultra sound results, peoples reactions to the preganancy, feelings you have, choices you have made and why, preperation details....

As you can see i have kept the same layout design as my previous pages, this ensures that the whole album will flow on nicely. i have chosen to keep the pages quite simple so that they pages dont become confusing and too full, this means that the photos and information are the main focus of the layout.

Journaling

I love to journal! I was drawn to scrapbooking as I loved how I could tell my story. My motto has been for many years-

the photos will never fade but the memories can

I try my very best to write things down so when I scrapbook my photos I can tell the story or the memory that goes with it. I am also date obsessed and recording a date on a page is a MUST, I love to remember when and this is easily forgotten as time moves so quick.

There are many ways to add journaling to your page. I love all the cool note cards and journaling spots for sale at SCRAPLOOT.

HOWEVER, I dislike my handwriting……it has no flow and just looks boring.
I CAN run any card through a printer with some great prepositional glue but there are also times when the cards or spots aren’t the right colour.

The good news is there are many quick and cost effective ways to make your own journaling spots

All you need to make these funky journaling cards is- any of the MARVY punches and the time to play with the drawing tools and text boxes in Microsoft Publisher. It is as simple as measuring your punched shape and drawing a circle, square or rectangle. Double click on the shape and select SIZE, type in the size you want your shape. I got a big outline on my shape by using the fill option and then drawing over the top with another white circle.

In April I am teaching a class at SCRAPLOOT on making these, so keep your eye out in the calendar.

To solve my handwriting problem I just put a text box over the top of my shape and type straight in.
The cutest handwriting fonts can be found here, WARNING you can spend hours of your time on this FREE site as the fonts are just “a-messy-handwriters-paradise”.

This interactive layout lifts to reveal facts about my life at 32.....another obsession of mine is to do an age layout every year and record memories about me at that age.

Here are some square journaling spots. I will add some more facts on photos on the dotted paper.
Now here is a story I just had to tell. When I pulled the Christmas Tree down this year Max was hysterical! He shook the post and screamed that he wanted it back.

For this layout I printed out my journaling and then used the MEGA MARVEY punch. I used 3 rectangles and joined them together to make one large background for my journaling.
In this layout I have used the purple MARVY punch and typed the number of years Darren and I have been together and the date.

Well, we have just fallen off our chairs here.... Remember (how could you forget) what happened down in Victoria a few weeks ago. Well Craig was on the phone to Linda (his sister) who was in the middle of the Churchill fire, and they have just had an EARTHQUAKE. Thats right, an earthquake. My Sister Chris lives in Melbourne and just rang to tell us. OMG how much more can they take down there..have no idea where the epicentre was or how much damage, lets just hope it wasn't a big one, just a lot of shaking about.

I want you to add in 3 elements to your LO, that simple!!

OK the requirements I want to see on your layouts is

A Frame
Stitching
Ribbon

Simple as that!!

Here is my sample, now remember I want to see YOUR take on this, you don't need to copy what I have done, just make sure the Layout you create has those 3 things on it and you are all set to go!

Now my Frame is the Bella Cardstock, I trimmed the middle out and used it to frame my LO, the Ribbon is Bella also and the Stitching is on the frame as well as on the ribbon. Feel free to take these elements as far as you like, but so long as they are all there.

Make sure your LO is uploaded into the Scraploot Gallery in the correct gallery by midnight NSW time Sunday March 14.

I had a ball on Tuesday night teaching, chatting and creating at Scraploot.
As promised girls here are the 3 layouts I made with 8 pieces of the COSMO range. I could still get at least another 2 layouts with the left overs.

Hi all, for my blog update this week I'd like to share a few tips and tricks I've learnt over the last few years which have helped me simplify and save time when creating my layouts.

By now you probably know I love using brads and the quickest and easiest way to make holes for the brad is to use a push pin and push pad or soft craft mat. Just position the pad under your layout where you are going to make the hole and push the pin through the paper. EASY.

My second tip is attaching ribbon to your layout. Lay down your ribbon where you want on the layout, then remove it. Place a strip of double sided tape here along your page where your ribbon was, take off the backing and then re-lay your ribbon , this gives a very smooth finish, its important you put the double sided tape onto the page not the ribbon for a smooth result.

Do you ever have trouble sliding your layout into a page protector after you have finished ? To over come this, before you start your page take a 2 or 3 mm slice off one side of your background card stock, this will allow for easy insertion into the page protector.

This next tip will help you to make a smooth sanded edge on your photos or paper. Using a distressing tool such as this one from basic grey or this one from Kaiser and a craft mat, place your paper or photo right on the edge of the craft mat. Run the distressing tool down along the edge of the paper/photo. You must make sure that the paper /photo stays on the very edge of the mat for a smooth finish.

A quick way to attach buttons to your layout without the hassle of sewing them on is to use some embroidery thread. Simply thread it through the holes of the button, then tie a knot at the back.. and cut off the extra thread. Then attach the button to your layout with pop dots or a strong adhesive. Voila !

My final tip I learnt from Jennifer Ditz Mcguire a few years back when I attended a class with her. When it comes to using rub ons such as these from scenic route leave the packet closed and simply cut out the words or shapes you need through the plastic, this helps protect the unused portion of the rub ons.

I hope you can use some of these tips to help make your scrapbooking life a little bit easier.

update on pregnancy journal

I thought i would just update the blog with the latest pages from my pregnancy journal

The journal has taken on a different feel from what i initially decided on, it has now become a little more child friendly than what i had intended. Gone is My diary of thoughts feelings and ramblings and instead i have found myself catering to my children's curiosity with "the book about our baby". I have kept the pages pretty simple and they will all have the same repetitive theme throughout so that my children can focus on their interests in the pregnancy. As i have children of different ages i found that the best way that i could cater to all the age needs was to include a little bit for each of them.

I have included a little Facts spiel for my ever knowledgeable 11 year old daughter with developmental photos of the baby. A run down on how i have been going through the pregnancy for my sensitive and ever so worried 7 year old son and some pretty pictures of mummies expanding tummy and lots of butterflies thrown in for little miss four.

i have found that as i add pages my children pour over them, they cant wait for me to add more pages to their book about our baby.

For some extra fun i have added page numbers at the bottom right of every page set so that little miss four knows she is on the right page :0) and so that she can choose her favourite pages, no doubt it will be page four lol as that is her favourite number!!! Also there are some reoccurring favourite items ie. butterflies that happen to be on each page for her to hunt down and find.. some are very hidden.

Every Monday my family know that we will receive another update on what is happening with our baby and because it is a weekly update my children especially feel like the baby is ever changing (as it is) and that the pregnancy is going so much faster (lucky them lol). It is very informative and an invaluable source of information for mothers to be!!!

Adding TEXTURE to your pages

Hi Everyone

First of all I'd just like to say how deeply sorry & sad I am after watching the terrifying events unfold on the weekend in the Victorian bush fires!!...I think I spent most of the weekend crying in disbelief........my heart, thoughts & best wishes go out to all those unfortunate enough to have been affected by this terrible tragedy with the loss of lives, homes, family & friends!!

This week I'd like to share with you a few techniques & hints I use to add texture to my pages.This lo called my special place is full of texture!!

One of my favourite things at the moment (just like Sheree) is my Cuttlebug!!.....The embossing plates for this machine are an awesome,quick & easy way to add texture to any lo or project. They come in a great range of styles & Sue has some available in the Scraploot shop.

In keeping with my tree theme in the photo I have taken the Forest branches template and on various pieces of brown Bazzill I embossed this design. I then drew a template of the shape I wanted to resemble a tree and cut it out.

Lastly I lightly glazed some dewdrop Brilliance ink spot over the embossing to enhance it further & create even more texture.

Adding some paper tearing & distress ink to your page add instant depth & texture.

Also cutting out some flocked patterns such as this red flower from the WRMK white out nonsense collection below is another way of adding some quick & instant texture to your pages.

When adding texture you can't go past a good acrylic paint splash.

To get maximum effect without the mess...lol....I like to add a blob of paint ( if your paint is a little thick you may need to water it down a little with a few drops of water to get an even consistency) then lean down close to your page and simply blow in the direction you wish to add texture in. ......It's that easy!!

I have also torn straight across the middle of my patterned paper, then on an angle using a thin paint brush end I rolled my paper around in opposite directions to create a scrolled opening to add my title. Using distress ink on the edges of the scroll helps to add a rustic, vintage texture as you can see in the image below.

Again on the lo below I have used my Cuttlebug with two different patterns an layered the embossed patterns & added a cluster of texture with a metal embellishment, a stamped image with 3D foam tape & a knot tied in the middle of my ribbon.

Again I have swiped an ink spot over my embossed pattern to enhance the embossed image again adding to the texture of the page.

Below I have embossed the wing I have used from the new Fancy pants range "The daily grind" to create the texture of feathers to further enhance the wing.

Last of all I have used some corrugated card scraps I had lying around, scalloping one edge and a simple strip up the top of the photo's.

Your pizza boxes are also made of corrugated card. If you carefully rip the first layer off to reveal it, you can then paint it before applying to your lo. Or for a more rustic look leave it in it's natural state.

A simple piece of lace scrap applied over the top will help to lift the corrugated card & emphasize that texture even further.

Well there you have it......a few quick & easy ways to add different textures to your pages.

Hi everyone... well how time flies hey... its feb already one month gone in the new year...so hows your resolutions going if you made any... Me well i dont bother cause i know they will never last LOL...

So today is my turn to update the blog and today i tought i would share with you all my new favourite things to use in my scrapping and the diffrent things you can do with it....

So my all time Favourite thing at the moment is my Cuttlebug Machine... i think that this would have to be my best purchase and i have used it alot in my scrapping both with making cards and my pages....

One of the best things about the cuttlebug machine is that you can use lots of other diffrent dies i find that Spellbinders Nestabilities are such great value for money and come in many diffrent sizes and shapes...
(I store my spellbinders Nestabilities in CD cases with a little bit of double sided tape to hold the larger ones in place)

Using the Spellbinders Nestabilities you can cut many diffrent types of materials such as paper, thin chipboard and felt... here is a little tutorial on how to cut out felt using the cuttlebug and the spellbinders...

as you can see the dies have a raised bit in the middle this bit is the cutting edge so this is the actual size that you will cut out.

to cut out using the spellbinders dies you must use the following plates A plate on the bottom, C plate and one B plate. Place the die with the cutting edge facing up and lay your chosen material on top of the die. I am using a woolen felt.

Once you have your layers roll the plates through your machine to cut it out... sometimes with a thicker material you may need to roll it through a couple of times to get a clean cut. This is the result you will get :

With the spellbinders its quite easy to make frames from these dies.

take 2 diffrent sized dies and place together. I usually use a bit of tape to keep them straight.

again using the same plate combo as before run this through your cuttlebug machine this is what it will look like once it has cut.

see so many possibilities with these dies and they are also good for other die cut machines too just go to the spellbinders website to see which machines are compatible.

Colouring Pearls

So I have to admit I am a Pearl fan, I just love the little effect they add as an embellishment to any layout, so imagine my surprise when I stumbled across a blog and on it they had a little tutorial on changing the colours of your pearls, and it works with rhinestones too!! BONUS!

All you need is some Alcohol inks, Pearls or Rhinestones and some scrap paper ( I used 3 sheets so that the ink didnt bleed through to my desk)Place your pearls and/or rhinestones onto the paper leaving a little room between each one then colour away. I found it was easier to roll the tip of the ink around the top of your pearl or rhinestone for even coverage Colour it with as many different colours as you like, and once they are dry the adhesive still sticks so apply them to your work

Pregnancy Journal post 1

As you may be aware i have recently found out that i am pregnant, so from here on in i will be completing a pregnancy journal and uploading the many pages to the Scraploot blog and to the gallery... So i guess you have no other choice but to join me as the drama of this wonderful pregnancy unfolds and hopefully i will give you some inspiration and some techniques to use on your scrapbooking projects as well ;o)

Today i am going to share with you the cover and page one

This gorgeous album actually came with the two little windows cut out which i thought was quite cute!!

1. measure and cut the blue sheet of paper to fit the album. Ink and adhere the blue sheet of paper onto the album, making sure to cut the window holes out precisely

2. cut the patterned paper to the same measurements as the blue paper. Trace the window holes but instead of cutting the windows out precisely, measure a few centimeters in at each edge and cut. Then make a diagonal cut from the corners you have just cut to the corners that you drew when tracing the window holes

3. using your fingernails (or a ruler) to score your patterned bending the paper up. Run your fingernail the whole length of the paper gently lifting it as you go. Next roll the paper back and forth with your fingers creating a rolled effect, do not worry about the paper tearing as this just adds to the effect. Complete for each edge, and ink gently over the top to finish. Adhere over the blue piece of paper, taking care to leave the edges free

4. Embellish

As you can see you could use this technique for any album of your choice. You could create a mini album on your goals and update the album as you strive to complete them, a weight loss journal, study journal, your child's first year .... the list is endless and because they are mini albums they take such a small amount of time to do!!!!

Journaling reads: i guess it all started with me feeling tired. I had constant stomach cramps and of course sore breasts. I think if i had the dreaded morning sickness we probably would have figured it out sooner but it wasn't until i described my symptoms out loud that we thought that there could be a possibility... What topped it off was me finishing my sentence with "its almost like there is a ball of something hiding in my stomach" That was realisation time, we looked at each other knowing that the next step would be The Test!

I love to review the year. It is great fun going through the photos taken, reading the calendar and reviewing my blog to put the memories of the year together. Since 2003 I have done this on a layout. I enjoy recording the events in our lives, along with Australian and world news events.

Kaiser have made these great albums that are 6x6 inches and have the year on them, so I had a ball reviewing 2008 and putting it all in this special album.

Materials:
Kaiser album
Kaiser ‘What a HOOT’ papers

Preparation:
Paint the edges of the album celery green.
Stamp over the numerals using a large background stamp.

The busy year, the year that flew by, I think I blinked and I missed it!
We attended 2 weddings, many children’s birthdays, a 30th, IDOL parties, a demolition party and spent many weekends BBQing and catching up with friends.
Kirsten ended her tour of Sydney and returned to England on the 6th Jan., I really missed our house guest and wished we lived closer to each other. Summer was spent in the pool, when we could as it seemed the drought broke in February as there was a lot of rainfall.
Darren worked his 5th year at MIDAS concord and had to work way too hard. He did lots of gas conversions and baby seats, Dave was sacked and Daz put on an apprentice. I worked 4 days at Bonnyrigg public school. My wonderful 1/2H were beautiful children, it was a great year in the classroom. I cherished Thursdays each week, shopping, taking Max to swimming lessons and ironing/cleaning. Max spent two days a week with my mum and two days with Linda. He had a ball everyday. We also lost our dogs, Pebbles to an eye tumor in August and Bronte in November to a brain tumor. They were both 9 years old. We continued the journey of trying to fall pregnant! Cheers to 2008….the year that was!

Simply Cardstock

Using just cardstock can be an effective background for your layouts, as it allows you to place emphasis on your photos, you can highlight the subject in your photo by choosing colours similiar to what they are wearing or make the background standout by choosing colours that match the background.

The simplicity of cardstock used as the dominant colour and as the secondary and accent colours can make your layout stylish and fresh looking.

Another reason to just use coloured cardstock for your layouts is that sometimes its just to difficult to find a patterned paper that matches your photos. Scraploot carries a wide variety of bazzil cardstock for you to choose from see here

Finally it allows your to play around with your embellishments and these too can be emphasised.

Our connection
Here I have chosen to use white and aqua cardstock and not the purple, as purple is one of my least favourite colours, even though there is only a smidgen of aqua in the photo I thought it worked well and gave the feeling of calmness to the layout. The heading is a combo of American Craft thickers see here and I got to use my favourite ribbon from Carolees creations the turquoise floral flourish here , finally the flowers are from green tara here

1st bath

Here I have used two shades of aqua cardstock as my background and then mounted my photo on the flesh coloured card to emphasis my son, again I have used the floral flourish ribbon from Carolees creations as well as American craft glitter thickers here and 7 gypsies 97% stickers see link above.

Waterfun

Here I have placed equal emphasis on both my son and the wall by using similiar coloured cardstock, as both things are needed to tell the story. Again I have used American craft thickers and 7 Gypsies 97% word stickers, there are so many different themes of these you will be able to find a set that suits you.

Daddy

My final layout Daddy is a very stylish layout. Using dark brown cardstock as your background colour always grounds your layout and allows you to use lighter and brighter colours in the foreground .The variety of colours and styles of American craft thickers also allows you to easily match them to your cardstock.

Wowee can you believe that's another year gone?.....and in true fashion I'm yet to scrap even half of my photo's!!

But I have had the scrapping bug lately which has brought me back to using paint on my layouts & I'd just like to share a few tips & techniques with you all.

A few different ways to use paint on your layouts.........

On this first layout I have used my Making memories foam stamps which have been one of my favourite stamps to use over the years. I like to use a paint brush to apply the paint to my stamps as this gives a nice even coat when stamping. I drew a 3inch circle underneath my photo & worked my way around it using the same stamp & applying paint each time I stamped. I used this pattern as a Matt for my photo. I highlighted some of the stamped images using a white gel marker around the edges.
I also used Making memories paint which Sue & Craig have a wonder range of colours in the shop.

Another way to use paint on your lo is to grab a dry brush & dab it in your paint, now on a spare piece of paper dab it a few times to use any excess up as you just want a light effect, now using long straight swipes work around the edges of your page to create a border. I find using this technique helps to draw your page together & helps highlight your main stamping.

This is another page I have been working on with paint & it was a little hard to photograph but I have cut a triangle shape out of my Sassafras pattern paper & using the dry brush & paint technique I created a frame around the triangle edge before I placed some coordinating paper underneath.I then trimmed the triangle and using GD pop up dots placed the triangle back in creating a border for my journaling.

I've also used paint underneath this stamped image on a transparency to give a clearer view of it on the busy pattern paper.

Well I'm hoping some of you may find these techniques useful & Id love to see what you may come up with if you upload them into our Scraploot gallery .

Heidi Swapp has been to Scraploot...

The gorgeous wonderful Heidi Swapp offically opened Scraploot last thursday night... wow she is the most inspirational person i have ever met... she is just gorgeous and speaks so well espcially about things that you can all relate to....

The poor girl had so many photos taken LOL but she didnt mind at all....

Michelle Sultana was the lucky winner to get her photo scrapped of her gorgeous daughter Katelyn... the page turned out beautiful.

Heidi officially opened the shop by signing and placing a large clock in the Heidi Swapp corner (she was even brave enough to climb up the ladder LOL)... thanks to Michelle for organising the clock...
We ate pink lemingtons, pink musk sticks and drank pink champagne...the dress code for the night was to wear pink and Sandra went all out... we all loved her tshirt that she decorated and wore....All of us here at Scraploot would like to say a huge huge thank you to Heidi and Chanel for taking the time to come to sydney and help us celebrate the opening of the shop... we appreciate it so much and will remember this always....
